Kuhio Highway Emergency Projects, Lihue, Hawaii

In 2018, heavy rains on Kauai caused substantial damage and numerous road closures along Kuhio Highway, Route 560 in Wainiha.  KSF, Inc. expeditiously mobilized a team of engineers to assess the damage, analyze different options to address the issues, and produce constructible plans.  Wire mesh walls were used to stabilize the slopes above the highway while soil nail walls were used to repair and restore the damaged highway.  Rock revetments were added to the base of the soil nail walls to protect it from erosion due to future catastrophic events.
